CLIP-ON OR STUD EARRINGS? THE BIG DILEMMA
Hi girls
You often ask me whether it is better to choose a clip or a stud for your earrings.
There is no right or wrong choice a priori, but I want to leave you some advice that I have developed over the years :)
Below I put the cases that I have encountered over time and that I know closely.
If I forgot something or if you want to contribute to this list, write to me at: vero@veronicatordi.it
1) CROOKED / ASYMMETRIC EAR HOLES
If you have problems with your ear piercings - for example, mine are crooked because I was little and moved when I got them at the jeweler's - a clip might be a good idea!
My right hole is pretty much crooked and lower than the left one, and if I wear stud earrings - it always looks like I'm wearing them the wrong way!
The clip in this case helps to visually balance the two parts because you can wear the earrings with more freedom, positioning them strategically to create symmetry.
2) EAR HOLES "DECESSED"
Or you have worn very heavy earrings for years, and over time you have noticed that the holes have "dropped": it means that the cartilage of the ear has been subjected to a lot of stress for a long time and the tissues have loosened so as not to cause further damage.
Unfortunately, many of us have given in to the charm of heavy but perhaps very beautiful earrings :) I understand you, completely.
But then the consequences can be felt and seen years later.
I would like to point out that this category includes women of all ages, without any distinction.
I have seen many girls - some very young - with relaxed and stressed holes.
The clip helps to avoid further stress on the ear hole, preserving its condition.
I know there are also procedures to reconstruct/shrink the hole but having never tried them - I don't know if they work.
Personally, I prefer to avoid interventions unless strictly necessary, so the clip is definitely a softer solution.
3) METAL ALLERGY
I would recommend the clip even if you have metal tolerance issues - obviously only in mild cases.
My creations are all certified nickel-free, but since they are not made with gold and silver I do not feel I can guarantee 100% for people with strong allergies.
For those with milder allergies, I can tell my own story and leave you free to choose based on your personal tolerance.
I have experienced metal allergies myself and it is absolutely not pleasant.
The form of allergy that I have is quite pronounced...Today I only wear my jewelry and some rare gold and silver jewelry.
In the past, it even happened to me that the belt buckles of my trousers - in direct contact with my skin - caused me very painful and annoying allergic reactions.
I then had to use very strong cortisone creams, live with the pain, and avoid wearing accessories that I loved but that unfortunately turned out not to be right for me.
I know that the offer of hypoallergenic earrings and slightly more fanciful styles is very limited - so I hope I have succeeded in the enterprise of creating beautiful pieces that are tolerable even for those like me who have sensitive and delicate skin!
4) SMALL CHILDREN PULLING HAIR (AND EARRINGS)
Now hold on tight, but I think the clip is also perfect for new moms or those with small children! Do you know why?
Little kids are attracted to shapes and colors, if you have long hair I'm sure they have experienced on more than one occasion how resistant your locks were!
So it's worth making their task easier, but above all, avoiding permanent damage to your earlobes due to stress or a too strong grip.
Unfortunately, they may not realize the force they use to pull your hair, or earrings, or pendants.
Here I am wearing Ibisco Beige with hand painted Beige stone.
Guess if mine are clip-on or pin-on?
